A.A.A. ACTIVITIES.
NORTH AND SOUTH PATROLS.
I»ast Sunday patrol officers of the A.A.A. were stationed on the Great North and Great South Roads. This service to motorists will continue each Sunday and on holidays throughout the summer. The patrols will assist at breakdowns, and they always have the latest information regarding the state of roads, camping facilities and other matters of interest to motorists.
The office of the A.A.A., situated in Durham Street East, is now open continuously on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. This innovation commenced last Friday, and was very largely availed of by motorists. Officials have been kept btisy attending to the requests of members for road maps and touring itineraries for the Christmas holidays, which has set in since the advent of fine weather.
The service officer, Mr. J. Skow, left yestecday for Waikato, Rotorua, Taupo and East Coast districts, to gain the very latest information of the state of roacb in these districts. The grader is now at work on the Bombay deviation, and although not metalled, this portion of the Great South Road will be' in good order when it is again opened for traffic.
