BIG DECREASE.

UNEMPLOYMENT IN CITY.

THE WEEKLY RETURN

A very substantial decrease is shown in the unemployment figures'for Auckland for the week ending to-day. The Labour Department's bureau reported this morning that 692 men were seeking engagement- as against 782 last week. Of the former figure 575 men are capable of doing heavy work and the remainder are suitable for light occupations. Since last Saturday the Department has succeeded in finding situations for 136 men.
