CORNER FOR BUSY BEES.

READER SUGGESTS A COMPETITION. 5/ PRIZE FOR DESCRIPTION OF A NOVELTY. (Conducted by TINKER BELL.) Dear Girls, — The other day I was searching through a pile of old books, looking for some novel idea, that would be worth mounting, when in popped the postman. He held little blue envelope in his hand, and with a merry twinkle in his eyes said, "Letter for you, Miss Tinker Bell." I was, of coarse, very pleased to receive a letter, and was very anxious to see who it was from, but the old postman is a terrible tease, and I had to plead very hard for fully five minutes before I received it. It was, as I expected, from one of the "Budget" readers, and this time was not a recipe, but a suggestion. Can any of you guesf what the suggestion was? I'll warrant you can't. It was a suggestion for a competition— and a very good suggestion, too. The idea is for readers to contribute descriptions of their dressing tab!* knick-knacks, which would be suitable for other girls to maks. Recipes also could be sent in; in fact, anything that could be of use to the Busy Bees who follow this column. I consulted Peter Pan on the subject, and, after a short argument, succeeded in gaining his permission to run the competition. A prize of 5/ will go to the competitor who sends in the best novelty, recipe or hint. Preference will be giwn to the novelty, and if you happen to have all three at your fingertips, well, send the three in. Any table material will be described in these columns, and so our readers will hare the advantage of each other's knowledge. There is only one more thing to say: Competitions MUST be addressed to "Tinker Bell," c/o Peter Pan, "Star" Office, Auckland, and all entries must he received at this office not later than Saturday, November 17. Put your thinking caps on girls, I'm waiting for a torrent of entries.
