MR. MUNNS AT ROSKILL.
REFORM'S LAND POLICY.
A solitary interjector on behalf of Reform constituted the whole "rowdy element" at a well-attended meeting* in the Capitol Theatre last evening, addressed by Mr. G. C. Munns, United party candidate for Roskill. Mr. E. H. Potter, Mayor of Mount Eden, presided!
Attacking the Reform party for its lack of a land policy, Mr. Munns etated that the exorbitant prices paid for land for soldier settlement had not only broken the heart and spirit of the returned men who had tried to farm it, but had also led to widespread economic disaster. He quoted the case of the Te Wera block, which was bought for £64,000. When it was cut up there was not a single application for suctions, as everyone knew that the land was impossible to farm except as a big station. When the Minister of Lands was questioned in the House, he averred that it would be set aside as a bush reserve. Mr. Munns also quoted a speech wherein the Prime Minister had said that he bad a land settlement policy, but that he would produce it when he thought fit. "Where ia the policy now?" asked the candidate.
After briefly outlining the United party's policy, Mr. Munns received a hearty vote of thanks and confidence.
