THE POWER BOATS.

ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OP OFFICERS. PRESENTATION OP PRIZES.

The twenty-third annual meeting of the New Zealand Power Boat Association was held last evening in the clubhouse, Quay Street Extension, the commodore, Mr. C. J. Collings, presiding over an attendance of over 60 members, including a large proportion of ladles. The annual report stated that there was an increasing interest in speed boat and outboard racing. To carry out these two classes of events, the association had inaugurated a eeries of events on the Whau River. These were well patronised both by competitors and spectators. A cruising race was held to Kawau for trophies presented by Mr. A. R. Brett. The boats were divided into classes, and competition was keen. The clubhouse had been maintained in good order, and was largely used by members. During the year a substantial reduction was made in the debenture liability. The committee has not lost sight of the fact that a new clubhouse site will be required when the boat harbour at St. Mary's Bay is completed, and had lodged an application for a section on the outer wall. Membership increased by 30 for the year. It was with regret that the resignation from the executive of Mr. S. H. Leyland was received. During the year Mrs. Buchanan, Dr. Moir and Mr. W. Dawson, three of the association's oldest members, died. Sympathy was expressed towards their relatives. The good work done by Captain H. H. Sergeant and his officers in the marking and laying-off of courses was particularly appreciated, also the services of the Ladies' Committee and the Press.

The balance-sheet snowed the club to be sound financially. The total receipts amounted to £452 10/11, which left a credit of £60 17/4.

Mr. Collings, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, said that the advantage of holding races on the Whau river was that they were always sure of smooth water.
