ROWING.
DOMINION ASSOCIATION. THE NEW OFFICE-BEARERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, at its annual meeting to-day, allocated the championship regatta to the Marlborough Association, the fixture to be held at Pieton. The interprovincial eightoar race was awarded to Canterbiirv, the voting being:—Canterbury, 7; Auckland, 6. A suggestion to row the race in heats over a mile and a-half course was rejected. Dissatisfaction was expressed with the manner in which the New Zealand representatives were selected for the Olympic Games, it being stated the oarsmen's claims should have been more favourably considered.
The election of officers resulted :—President, Mr. A. J. MacLaine (Marlborough) • vice-presidents, Messrs. W. J. Wilson (Otago) and H. Ayres (Canterbury) ; council, Messrs. E. S. Innes and D. R. Menzies (Auckland), C. F. Turner (Canterbury) H Paton (Otago), G. Lauchlan (Wanganui), E. Diehl and R. J. G. Duncan (Wellington) ; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. D Bayfield; auditor, Mr. G C. Fache. Owing to the expense it was decided that the council could not accept an invitation to send a rowing eight to New South Wales and Western Australia, but favoured sending A. K. Jackson, the Wanganui sculler, to Sydney, to compete at the New South Wales championships. Wanganui delegates resented criticism of the control of the last championship regatta, ana Mr. Lauchlan, the council's representative at the regatta, agreed that the trouble was due to matters over which there was no control.
