REFORM AND RELIEF WORKS.
A deputation to Mr. Coatcs asked tint married men be paid at the rate of fourteen shillings a day. Mr. Coates said he could not accede to this request, but he •would issue instructions that all men on relief works ht given "a fair go.'* I -worked on the ColviflePort Charles Road for eight months and my average wage was l/7i per hour. I was on the Colville-Port Jackson Road for thre® months, and the average was 1/9 per hour. Is that a wage for a married man to keep two homes on? The Prime Minister also smys if we find we are going to have a surplus of unemployed every winter, then, of course, wa must go right ahead and do something. Kb* Mr. Coates has been Prime Minister for three years and has done nothing yet, and every year has been worse, and will get worse if the Reform party is not shift ed.
