EXTENSION OF SEWERA&E.
TENDERS TO BE CALLED.

WHANGAREI, Tuesday
The borough council, at a special meeting last night, authorised its consulting engineers to call tenders immediately for the following work:—(1) Construction of main intercepting sewer, from the east end of Deveron Street, with all branch sewers in the area lying to the west of Maine Avenue and Kamo Road below its junction with Mains Avenue; (2) construction of main trunk sewer from Hoey'e orchard to Dent Street, with necessary connections. Work is to commence a month later on the construction of the Mill Koad sewer and branches, and the continuation of the ma'n trunk sewer from Dent Street to Deveron Street. Tenders for the construction of 6eptic tanks and a main out-fall cower are to be let in July next and the work completed in the following summer.
It is expected that the whole of the works, for which a loan of £49,000 is to be raised, will be completed in March, 1930.
The following tenders for pipes have been accepted:—Earthenware Pipe Company, £2866 16/5; Napier Concrete Pipe Company, £6034 7/7.
The Maunu Road reconstruction work, involving the expenditure of £5900, is to be started at once.
