SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION.
The Rev. F. A. Thomson, of St. Luke s Presbyterian Church, Remuera, presided at the annual meeting of the Auckland Sunday School Union last night. The report showed that there were 864 schools connected with the union, with 3T09 teachers and 30,436 scholars. During the year ten schools Joined the union. Mr. George WinStone, senior, who has been a member of the union for 60 years, was present, and received a special welcome. Examinations. — Candidate# numbering 1688, representing 137 schools, sat for the annual Bcripture examination. The results were: Prizes, 413; first-class certiflcates, 527 ; second-class, 273; pass only, -5.4; remainder, 251. i Election of OflScers. —The following were elected *. President, Rev. F. A. Thomson ; Ticfc-presideutß, Messrs. 8. E. Chappell, R. g. Abel, G. Falla; general treasurer, Mr. W. A. Kendon; general secretary, Rev. L. B. Busfleld; executive, Misses Dora Earle, C. Halg and Winstone, Mrs. Pierce, Messrs. T. B. Fraser, F. W. Gaae, A. Greenman, W. H. Newton, A. R. Penman, J. Tyler, R. H. Utting, and C. H. Virtue; trade committee, Messrs. J. W. Court, S. E. Chappell, W. D. M. Glalster, W. A. Kendon, A. E. Lawry and B. Smith. Long Bervice Diplomas.—The following received diplomas for long service: Mr. F. Howe, Newton Congregational School, for 50 year*' service i Mr. E. A. Dillon, Eden Terrace Methodist, 45 years', Mr. A. W. Martin, Cambridge Methodist, 45 years; Mrs. A. W. Martin, Cambridge Methodist, 43 years; Mrs. M. Hobson, Newton Congregational, 35 years; Mr. E. J. Easter, Cambridge Methodist, 30 years; Mr. Wm. Rew, St. Stephen's Presbyterian, 20 years; Mr. W. J. Johnson, Taneatua Presbyterian, 23 years; and Mr, F. Yeoman, Opourlao School, 23 years.
