CHAMPIONSHIP.
THE QUALIFYING ROUND,
TOURNAMENT AT TITIRANGI.
There was plenty of enthusiasm among the players gathered at the Titirangi links this morning, when the qualifying round of the Auckland Ladies' Provincial open golf championship was played. A medal handicap was played in conjunction with the round. Better weather could not be wished for, and the greens and fairways are in perfect order. The best score of the morning was 86, done by Mrs. Marshall and Miss Rathbone. Of the players who are in Mrs. Marshall (86 —9—77), and Mrs. Grevatt (97 —20 —77) are leading for the medal handicap. If no better score is returned from the players yet to finish they will have to play off.
The following players qualified: Mrs. Marshall 86, Miss Rathbone 86, Mrs. Hosking 88, Mrs. Dufaur 88, Mrs. G. F. Ferguson 89, Mrs. Banister 89, Miss Upton 89. Miss Deighton 90, Miss M. Macfarlane 91, Miss D. Horton 91, Mrs. Wilson 92. Mrs. Alison 92, Mrs. Buttle 93, Miss G. Easton 94, Mrs. Beattie 94, Miss Acheson 95.
Miss Acheson and Mrs. Hodges tied with 95, but Miss Acheson did 49 for the best nine holes and Mrs. Hodges 48.
The draw for the first round, which will be played to-morrow morning, is as follows: —Mrs. Marshall v. Miss Acheson, Miss Macfarlane v. Mrs. Deighton, Mrs. Dufaur v. Mrs. Buttle, Mrs. Bannister v. Mrs. Wilson, Mrs. Ferguson v. Mrs. Alison, Mrs. Hcsking v. Mrs. Beattie, Miss Upton v. Miss Horton, Miss Rathbone v. Miss Easton.
