NEW BUSINESS ASSOCIATION.
TRADE IN MOUNT EDEN
A Business Men's Association has been formed for the Mount Eden and Dominion Road districts. The new organisation came into being at a meeting which held last evening. The chairman, Mr. H. Cliffe, said the district had undergone such a tremendous change during the last five years that it was now necessary to protect their interests and those of the community at large. The proposal might •ppear ambitious, but it had .enlisted widespread support and sympathy. There were over 15,000 people in Mount Ifclen, and there were 4000 or 5000 people of other districts who either shopped in Dominion Road or used it as a channel of communication with the city. Other speakers were Mr. J. Knights, Mr. Fraer and Mr. Oldham, and it was obvious that the meeting was unanimous in favour of the scheme. The following resolution was carried:—
"That this meeting hereby resolves to form a Business Men's Association in the district, and that a meeting to further the resolution be held at Webb's Hall on Monday, November 10, at 8 o clock, and that in the meantime the district be canvassed for a full attend* *nce at such meeting."
