A.A.A. ACTIVITIES.
INSPECTING CAMP SITES.
CONDITION OF ROADS.
3\lr. J. Skow, service officer of the Auckland Automobile Association, accompanied by Mr. H. Butcher, chairman of the service committee, has just returned from a visit of inspection to camping sites, A.A.A. hotels, and agents. The condition of the roads in the South Auckland district was also noted. Visits were made to Pukekohe, Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Whatawhata, Hamilton, Te Mata, Raglan, Pirongia, Te Awamutu, Kihikihi, Otorohanga, Te Kuiti, Te Kawa and Kawhia. The main South Road in the'Rangiriri district is being made ready for summer traffic. The Whatawhata-Raglan road, from Hamilton, is having a lot of work done on it by three gangs of men, who are engaged taking off the bad corners, and widening the road in several bad places. The road from Whatawhata to Pirongia, and on to Te Awamutu, although J only a secondary road, i 8 in first-class order almost equal to concrete. From Te Kawa to Kawhia is very narrow and requires careful driving, especially at the Kawhia end. The local engineer hopes in the near future to improve some of the bad corners. The road south of Otorohanga is bumpy and full of potholes. It is hoped to have graders on this section before Christmafc. MOTOR TRADE NOTES. Mr. W. G. Brian, late manager of the Colonial Motor Co., has been appointed Auckland manager of Dominion Motors, Ltd. Mr. H. G. Lane, for many years connected with the motor trade in Christchurch and Auckland, has joined the staff of Messrs. Harrison and Gash, Ltd., as organising sales manager. Mr. W. G. Taylor, of Wellington, has taken over the management of Colonial Motors' Auckland branch. The agency for the Graham-Paige trucks will be handled in Auckland by Messrs. Wright, Stephenson, Ltd., of Beach Road. We have received from the publishers, the Associated Trade Journals Co., of Martin Place, Sydney, a copy of the Motor Trade Directory of Australia. It is a book of neary 800 pages and contains a classified index of motor traders, accessory houses, garages, etc., throughout Australia. It should be invaluable to all engaged in the various sections of the industry.
NO LUCK! Rustic (having stopped car hopefully): Beg pardon, zur—but there's one o' them pesky plain-clo'es pleece traps a bit further on! Driver: I know. We're the police squad going to relieve it.
