LECKIE'S PLAN.

PROPOSED TRIP TO AMERICA. DETAILS OF CONTRACT. (By Telegraph.—Special to ''Star.") DUNE DIN, this day. The statement that emanated from Wellington last week that Johnnie Leckie, the feather-weight boxing champion of New Zealand, had finalised a contract with Charlie Harvey (Heeney's manager), to fight in America, was just a little premature. To a reporter Leckie stated he had not yet signed up any contract in America, though it was his intention to leave for the United States once he had finalised a suitable agreement. It was true that Mr. Earl Stewart had placed Johnny in the way of receiving a contract from Harvey when he left Wellington. However, he had not signed up but there was a contract from Harvey awaiting him when he reutrned to Dunedin, and this is the one that Leckie will very probably accept. It provides for Leckie receiving two-thirds of the stakes, the other onethird going to his manager, these being the same terms as those under which Heeney fought. Leckie's transportation expenses to America are also guaranteed under the contract, but before he accepts he wants a guarantee of transportation expenses both ways.

No terms were mentioned in this contract, though Leckie himself states that if he met with success he would be prepared to spend two years in America. Another contract has been received by the champion since he reached Dunedin, this being one from a New York manager, Thomas Williams, but it is unlikely he will accept this, as the term put forward is five years. The champion will return to Dunedin after his fight with Radford at Christchurch on Nevember 7, but is prepared to leave for America as soon as possible after everything has been finalised.
