POWER FOR AIR BASE.
DELIVERY OF 11,000 VOLT CABLE.
WAITEMATA EXTENSION.
DEMAND AT HELEN SVILLE,
The 11,000 volt "underground cable for the extension of the Waitemata Electric Power Board's transmission line to the Hobsonville aerodrome has been delivered and the laying of the equipment commenced. A report to this effect was made at to-day's meeting of the board by the engineer (Mr. F. J. 11. Wilson). He further stated that two transformers, installed on the Niliotupu extension, had been connected up and the low tension wiring livened. A number of services had also been run in the Helensville and Kaukapakapa districts. The transformer supplying the farmer town had been changed in order to meet the increasing load. The wiring of the 11,000 volt Greenhithe circuit had been completed and a transformer platform partially constructed. Applications for a supply of current were being received in good numbers from residents at East Coast bays, and this was necessitating the reticulation of side roads not hitherto planned. During September 88 connections had been made, making the total connection* in the board's area to date 6103, including 515 stoves, 752 water heaters, 76 milking motors, and 231 industrial motors. During the present month 60 additional consumers had been connected. Members commented upon the satisfactory and steady increase in consumers, despite adverse criticism because of stoppages that had occurred through no fault of the board's own. The report was adopted.
