WHY SO LONG DELATED? A REASSURING COMMENT. Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Electricity Committee of the Aueklaud City Council, in discussing Mr. Holmes'' criticism of Arapuni, asked why, if Mr. Holmes Lad held this opinion for so long, had he tot made it public before? It •urely was his clear duty to have stated the facts as he saw them before the Arapuni scheme was actually entered Upon. It seemed to the speaker to be merely a piece of alarmist propaganda, rather than the considered opinion of »n experienced Public Works engineer. The public would be well advised to base its judgment on the reports of the highly-placed engineers who investigated the Roundness of the Arapuni scheme, before it was entered upon,
