TEPIDS CLOSING FOR ALTERATIONS
Bathers of Auckland, who were looking forward to a dip in the Parnell baths this week-end, are doomed to another disappointment.
The Town Clerk (Mr. J. S. Brigham) reported this morning that certain alterations necessary at the baths had not yet been completed, and consequently they would not be opened this week-end. It was anticipated\that the baths would be' available for use early next week, but they would not be opened until everything was in satisfactory order.
Pending the completion of the work, the Health Department is patiently waiting, to take bacteriological tests of the
water in baths. Dr. Hughes stated this morning that nothing would be done by the Department till information was received from the council that the baths had been filled, when tests of the water could be made and passed as satisfactory or otherwise.
Teh tepid baths will be closed for alterations on Monday and Tuesday, but will reopen on Wednesday morning.
