IRONMASTER DEAD.
Director Of Firm Building Sydney Harbour Bridge. SIB HUGH BELL PASSES. (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) LONDON, October 26. The death has occurred of Sir Hugh Bell, a director of Dorman, Long and Company, Ltd., which firm is building the Sydney Harbour Bridge. He was 84 years old. Sir Hugh, when in Australia five yeara ago, said that his one ambition was to live until he was 90, because he had promised to go to Sydney in 1933, to open the bridge.
Sir High Bell was an ironmaster and colliery owner. He was born in 1844, and succeeded his father, the first baronet, in 1904. He was educated at Merchiston School, Paris, and CottinKen. He was a director of Brunner, Mond and Co., Dorman, Long and Co., the London and North-Eastern Railway, and other

concerns. His widow, Lady Bell, is a well-known
novelist and playwright.
