WELLINGTON, Friday
The fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hidep. tallow and sundries was held to-day, when good average-sized catalogues of all classes were submitted to a full representation of buyers. Sheepskins: The market lacked competition, and prices for all descriptions were Mid to Id per lb lower on previous quotations. The London sales have reported a decline, and this was reflected at the Bale. Salted skins were firm at late rates, with an occasional rise. Hides: Fair-sized catalogues were offered. Consequent on unfavourable reports from overseas, bidding was not keen, and a weaker demand was met with, heavies at V*& to Vtd per lb lower, and mediums J /4d to Vzd lower. Lights ruled at par. Kips were in better demand, and showed u slight rise on last quotations. Yearlmgs" were weaker by %d to %d. Calf were in request, and weights to 51b sold at' pay, 61b to 81b being Id lower. Tallow: Strong demand at late rates. Following is the range of prices:— , £ .

At the sheepskins sale the attendance of buyers was fair, but competition was poor Withdrawals were heavy. As compared with closing rates of last series combing sheepskins were fully 10 per cent lower.
