ROTORUA NOTES.
Mrs. Mactier and Miss M. Mactier, Haupapa Street, have returned to Rotorua from Hamilton. Miss Parker has left on a visit to Napier and Wellington. Mrs. Hamilton has returned from a holiday in the South. Miss Atkinson, of Nelson, is the guest of Mrs. F. W. Cliatterton, The Vicarage, Hinemoa Street. Mrs. E. H. Von Sturmcr, with her two sons, of Koliimarama, is the guest of licr mother, Mrs. J. St. Clair, Kanolf Street. Mrs. A. C. Randerson, Pukuatua Street, has returned from a visit to Gisborne. Mrs. C. R. Tapper lias returned to Rotorua from a holiday spent in Te Pukfc, Auckland and Matainata. Mrs. Woollams, of Auckland, spent the week-end in Rotorua. Mrs. C. Kusabs, of Whakarewarewa, has returned from Auckland. Mrs. Freida Thompson has returned to Brent's Bathgate House from a visit to Napier. At St. Luke's Parish Hall, 011 Wednesday afternoon, a successful concert was arranged by Mrs. Walsh in aid of the Rotorua Girl Guides. Mrs. W. L. Richards, president of the Rotorua Women's Club, on behalf of the Guides, welcomed all those present, and a dainty afternoon tea was served by members of the Women's Club. Divisional Commissioner E. J. Harris spoke on the Guide movement in Rotorua, which, for the last three years had the support of the Koto- | rua Women's Club, who, in acting as local association, had given a great stimulus to the movement, and she appealed to the public for their moral support, syinp"!hy and help. Enjoyable items were j,.*en by Mrs. Winslade, sen., Airs. W. ftieliards, songs; Miss Phyllis Galbraith, recitations; signalling and drill by the Rotorua Girl Guides; Mrs. George Steele, monologues; Miss E. Winslade, pianoforte solos. At the conclusion of the programme Mrs. N. Keane proposed a very hearty vote of thanks to Mrs. Walsh and the performers for the very enjoyable concert.
! At Dixieland Cabaret, Rotorua, on Wednesday evening, a most enjoyable and successful dance and card party was organised by the Rotorua Golf Club. The hall was gaily decorated with festoons of coloured streamers, with golf clubs and bags arranged round the walls. Hunter's orchestra supplied excellent music, and several novelty dances were held, the Monte Carlo waltz prize being won by Miss Ede and Mr. John Corlett. The president of the club, Mr. W. W. P. Hall, extended a hearty welcome to the guests present, and apologised for the unavoidable absence of Mrs. Hall, and then asked Mrs. | F. W. Wilkie, in the absence of Mrs. Hall, jto present the prizes won during the season. A card tournament was held in the gallery, the prizes being won by Mrs. Mansou first, Mrs. Parata second, for the ladies; Mr. Sommerville first, Mrs. Hogan second, who played as a man, for the gentlemen.
