enthusiastic meeting of about 500 'cheered Mr. A. S. Richards, Labour candidate for Roskill, at the Mount Albert xei minus last night. In explaining •Labour's housing policy, Mr. Richards 'outlined the scheme which had been •Wrought into operation in Queensland, "under a Labour Government. In that State, not only could the worker be assured ( 6j a home, but he had the satisfaction of knowing that his wife and 'children wou>.l have a permanent abode in the event of n'is death. This was made possible by the fa'ct that the head of the household in each house occupied under this scheme wJft insured in the Government Life Insurance office for an amount equivalent to the value of the *esidence. The insurance was automatic upon the signing of the mortgage, and the whole scheme in respect of. Interqat, repayment of capital and insurance 'wenmim was a very easy weekly •inn, ieing .is low as 18/3 in some cases. thanks and confidence was enthusiastically.
