MAORIS' FALSE PRETENCES.

(By Telegraph —Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, this day. Ed. Walker and George Davey, Maoris, were charged to-day with having obtained money and goods by means of a valueless cheque. They pleaded guilty. Sergeant Hogan said Walker had just come out of the Borstal Institution. Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., sentenced Walker to two years' reformative detention in the Waikeria prison camp and granted Davey probation for two years on the conditions that he abstains from liquor and makes restitution of £7 15/.
