TO-MORROW'S PROGRAMME.
SECOND DAY OF OPENING MATCHES. HOW THE OAMES STAND. Joint champions for the 1927-28 seacon, Eden and I'onsonby, are both likely to score wins to-morrow, when the lirst panics of the Auckland Cricket Association's senior competition will be completed. At the King's College ground Eden, with nearly 1100 runs on lor the loss of eight wickets, will probably send (irufton to the wickets, and should not have great dilliculty in getting the points. Ponsonby, at the Devonport ground, are in a strong position, having scored ir>l, while Shore liave lost live wickets for 15. University, with 194 runs on, for three wickets, are 1 ikely to get the honours against Y.M.C.A., who were dismissed for 112, while United Suburbs (127 for eight) have slightly the better prospects in their game against Parnell (all out for 121). A friendly match between tho Howick nnd Maungnkiekie cricket clubs was played at Pakurungu on Labour Day In order to celebrate the Inauguration of tbe two new clubs. The scoring on both sides was low, and runs came very slowly, due to the somewhat waterlogged state of the outlleld. However later in the afternoon the game brightened up. Scores :— Maungaklekie.—Fiivt innings, 48 (E. Forsmnn 15, F. Hockenhull 11). Bowling for Howick, Ilaslip took four wjckets for 21, Waring five for 25, and Thompson oue for 2. Howick.—First innings. 59 (Waring 19, Haslip 10 not out). Bowling for Maungakiekie, Sampson took four wickets for 15, E. Foreman one for 13, and F. Hockenhull four for <5. Maungakiekie.—Second innings, 48 for three wickets (Dillon 13, D. Irvin 18). Bowling for Howick, Thompson took three wickets for 26. Howick won by 11 runs on the first innings.

PROPOSED REP. MATCHES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. A meeting of the Whangarei Cricket Management Committee decided to invite Dargaville, Rodney and Mangonui Associations to play representative games at Whangarei on dates to be arranged. Mr. H: Fiewellyn was appointed sole selector of the Whangarei teams. A special committee reported that the new Rugby ground was unsuitable for cricket An umpires' association lias been formed, ami members will officiate at> the opening competition games on Saturday. The resignation of Mr. E. Brainsby from the secretaryship was accepted, and Mr. R. Danes was appointed.
