GIRL STEALS A HANDBAG.
TEMPTATION IN A SHOP.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The story of a young woman's , faiure to resist temptation to steal was told in the Police Court to-day before Mr. E. Page, S.M., who agreed to the suppression of accused's name. It was stat,ed that the girl, , who was 21 years of age, lost her father a month ago and became the support of her mother and brother. She was engaged to be married and on going into a second-hand shop with the intention of buying a pair of shoes, she succumbed to temptation and took away a handbag which she thought might contain the money which would help to buy her trousseau. However it contained a number of rings, a gold medal and a £5 note. She pawned the jewellery, which subsequently she helped ' the police to recover. i« T »steSg ß|rs!s ess*)
