OBITUARY.
MR. WILLIAM L. ORR.
SIXTY-SIX YEARS' COLONIST,
A resident of Pukekawa for the past 37 years, ]\lr. William Longmuir Orr, died yesterday aged 88. He was born iu Ayrshire, Scotland, and came to New Zealand by the Surat in 1862, landing at Auckland. During the war in the Waikato Mr. Orr drove the first dray with provisions for the "troops through to Queen s Redoubt at Pokeno. He next went to Canterbury, where he was farming for several years, and also married there the third daughter of Mr T H Pannett. In 1883 Mr. Orr returned to Auckland, and took up a large block of unimproved land near Morrinsville. Eight years later he moved to Pukekawa, near Tuakau, where he lived until his death. Deceased is survived by Mrs. Orr, seven sons, threo daughters, 21 grand children and two great grandchildren. '
MR. GEORGE JOHNSTON.
„ The death took place, at his home, Coronation Eoad, at the age of 72 years, (of Mr. George Johnston, a weli-known 'baker and confectioner. He was born in 'Edinburgh, and came to New Zealand in 1881 in the sailing ship Halcyon. Mr. Johnston started business it Newton iu |iISB3 as baker and confectioner, and, after remaining there for some years, removed to Devonport, where he estab- ! lished the business now carried on by Mr, J. McGregor. Mr. Johnston was a [member of the Masonic order, also a Forester. He leaves a widow, two daughters, two sons, and twelve grand[children. The interment took place at Papatoetoe. .J '
