Portage Road.—The bad state of Portage Road was brought under the notice of the council, by a letter from the Passenger Transport Company. Previously assistance was sought from the Mount Wellington Road Board to co-operate with Otahuhu, but the board declined to do anything in the matter, on the ground that the road is in the Otahuhu boundary. The town clerk explained that, according to law, the road should be conjointly controlled by the two bodies. Motor Drivers' Licenses.—The Manukau County Council wrote re motorists from that district receiving drivers' licenses in other districts without being subjected to a sufficiently severe test. Referred to Legal and Finance Committee. Quarry Reserve.—A tender of £18 per annum was received for the grazing rights on the quarry reserve. Owing to the tenderer wanting the reserve fenced and water laid on, the matter was reterred to the Works Committee for a report re the cost of the fencing and water supply.
