BILL BAYNE TURNS PRO.
FINE AMATEUR RECORD.
Bill Bayne, of Te Awamutu, who lias held the light-heavyweight amateur wrestling title of the Dominion since 192ti, has announced his intention of joining the ranks of the professionals. Bill is a well-set-up son of the native race, 20 years of age, and goes to the scale at 12.8 when
tuned up. Bayne has had a very successful career as an amateur, and has only one defeat in his record, as the following shows:— Beat E. Holmes at Te Awamutu; won light heavyweight Dominion title, 1926, at Auckland; beat A. Scarrow (Raetihi), at Te
_ Awamutu; won *Jng Country championship, 1927; beat Wills (Auckland), at Te Awamutu; won Dominion light-heavyweight title at Raetihi, 1927-28.
Among others he has defeated are Pollai-d (Auckland), Naylor (Auckland). J. Webb (Raetihi). Anderson (Raetihi), and A. Scarrow (Raetihi). The only defeat he had was when he met Da\e Scarrow in the Dominion amateur heavyweight championship tourney, when he lost on points. During his whole wrestling career Bavne has only been pinned to the mat" twicc, thus demonstrating his abilitv to evade holds.
At present negotiations are in hand to match Bayne with Joe Dufty (Hamilton), the bout to take place at Te Awamutu within the next month. However, Bill wishes it to be made known that he lias backing to wrestle any grappier in the country up to 13st.
