"BLACK HAND."

WARNING TO MOTORISTS.

HOIST HEAR A HOSPITAL.

REMARKABLE LETTER RECEIVED.

(By Telegraph.-—Press Association.)

MARTON, this day.

"We never faiL If you do not silence your motor-bike when in the vicinity of Wellington Hospital dire consequences will befall you. (Signed) High Master, Black Hand Society." -

This melodramatic warning was contained in a letter found in possession of Geoffrey Norman Butcher, motor mechanic, of Wellington, who was charged yesterday with having been intoxicated Chen in charge of a car, and with haviag no silencer attached to the exhaust.

Evidence was given that Butcher raced his car on the highways near Marton on Sunday. The machine made a tremendous roar, and the residents thought an aeroplane was about.

Butcher admitted that he had had several previous convictions for speeding. He said he had received the letter some time ago. Several such letters had been sent to motorists in Wellington.

Batcher was fined amounts totalling £15, and his license was cancelled.
