BOY KILLERS' RELEASE.
99 YEARS OR FOR EVER.
VANCOUVER, October 19.
There is a technicality which will give j freedom to Richard Loeb and -Nathan Leopold, the youthful murderers of the schoolboy Franks, who were sentenced to life imprisonment. At the trial, the judge wished to make certain that they would enter, the prison for ever, so he designated' the sentence 99' years and life." The, law officially recognises life imprisonment as a longer term than 99 years, and, as both run concurrently, the law applies the life imprisonment rules, and ignores the 99 years. V Under the life term, therefore, they become- eligible to parole, at . Christmas, 1934, according to the chairman of ; the Pardon Board. They are to-day occupying the choicest positions available to trusted prisoners.
