NEW LYNN CLUB.
The informal opening of the New Lynn Bowling Club took place on Saturday. There was a large attendance of members, and, on account of the unavoidable absence o£ the president, Mr. E. R. Edney, Mr. C. H. Cox made a few suitable, remarks and asked Mrs".. Cox to throw the first Jack."' The president, Mrs. Witham, and ladies of the newly-formed Xew Lynn Croquet Club invited the bowlers to join them at afternoon tea. which was very nicely arranged.

XANUKEWA BOWLING CLUB.
;•*. The Manurewa Bowling Club held its official opening of the season on Saturday afternoon, under most auspicious circumstances. Visitors were present front many surrounding districts, including Messrs. Pascoe, Gladding and party, representing the Auckland Centre, although their" visit was necessarily a short one. The lawns and grounds generally were lit splendid order, their well-kept appearance eliciting many congratulatory remarks. The president: (Mr. C. A. Fawcett) opened the proceedings by welcoming the visitors, and referred to the excellent prospects which faced members for the coming season. Mrs. Fawcett then threw the jack to a good length, amidst applausg. The ladies of the Croqt quet Club provided dainty afternoon tea in the adjacent hall, which was tastefully decorated for the occasion. Interesting gAntmi were played throughout the afternoon, the general arrangements being in the capable hands of the secretary (Mr. F. Whyte) and the committee.
