KAWINI'S GOLD CUP.
MEMBERS' MEMORIAL TO MINT LEAF. LADY'S BOY TAKES SPRINT. Tlie conditions were unpleasant for the Waikato Hunt Club's annual meeting at Cambridge, heavy rain falling until after the third race. The track was heavy, and there were numerous falls in the jumping events. The Hon. J. A. Young attended, and, after the chief event, presented the gold cup to Mr. H. A. Swaffield, owner of Kawini. The amount put through the totalisator was £31,553, a decrease of £8035, compared with the 1927 figures of £39,588. Bendower scored in the Maiden Hunters' Steeples, Leitrim in the Bardowie Handicap, Archangel in the Hunters' Hurdles, and Mint Leaf in the Members' Memorial.
