WAIKATO NOTES.
At the home of Mrs. N. Jeffrey, Te Awamutu, on Saturday, a party of Hamilton ladies were entertained by twelve Te Awamutu ladies at a bridge party. The living room was beautifully decorated with shaded Iceland poppies, and the dining room looked bright with purple and red anemones. Mrs. Jeffrey wore a smart black lace and silver frock. Others present were:—Mesdames J. O'Sullivan, F. B. Jolly, L. 8. Chamberlain, L.'Sheppard, C. Blundell, H. Hasler, H. Gribben (Dunedin), H. J. McMillan, C: Childs, P. E. Stevens, J. Oliphant. 1. T. The official opening of the Frankton j Croquet Club ■was held on Saturday, ] when Mrs. Geo. Buckland opened the lawns for the season's play by hitting the first ball through a hoop. Those present were:—Mesdames I. B. Dillicar, Speedy, Bray, Allen, Brockelsby, Wilkes, R. Coombes, Carde, Totman, Grant, Andrews, O'Brien, Wheeler, Larney, Roberts, Hodgkinson, Farrell, Dens, Steel, Olive, jßelgrave, Middleton, Mason, Loveridge, Shepherd, Misses Baulf, Speedy. A successful dance was held at Cambridge in aid of the municipal bath fund. The hall was decorated with coloured paper streamers. Those present included :—Mesdames C. Bovce, S. Lewis, F. Ferguson, A. Gane, Sawers, Pearce, Porter, Richards, Speight, Souter, Gordon, O. Gane, Anderson, Haworth, Care, Dix, Chard, Hendry, Bishop, W. Hall, Webb, Rav, J. J. Collis, F. At Te Awamutu on Monday evening a] very enjoyable bridge party was given at the home of Mrs. N. Jeffrey for a number of her friends. Mrs. Jeffrey received her guests in a navy blue georgette frock. The winners of the hidden number prizes were Dr. and Mrs. Gribben, of Dunedin. Those present were:—Mr. and Mrs. J. O'Sullivan, Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Chamberlain, Dr. and Mrs. C. Blundell. Dr. and Mrs. Childs, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Oliphant, Mr. and Mrs. Loughnan, Mr. and Mrs. Des. Williams, Dr. and Mrs. Gribben (Dunedin), Mr. H. E. Focke, and | Miss H. Focke.
