INQUIRY INTO WAIKINO FIRE

An inquiry into the fire which destroyed a seven-roomed boarding house, .lie property of Mrs. Josephine A. M;.-Pike, at Waikifto, on August 31, will be opened m the Waihi Courthouse to-morrow morning- before the -district coroner and a jury. ; The annual plain and fancy dress ball, under the auspice® of the Waihi Haven*' Soccer Club, was held in the King's Hall last evening and proved a great success. The Mayor, Mr. W. M. Walluutt, presented the prizes won in the fancy dress competition and congratulated the club on winning the D.C.L. Cup and the GoldiielJs Cup during the season. Mr. W. Ellerington, president -of the - club, formally presented the cup during the evening to the team* captain, Air. Seeth.
