FRAMEWORK COLLAPSES.
SHED AT FREEMAN'S SAT. j CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. It is estimated that damage to the extent of several hundreds of pounds has been caused by the collapse, on Sunday .evening, of the steel framework of a large shed on the Steel Construction Company's premises at Sale Street, Freeman's Bay. The shed was intended to house plant that is being prepared for the new Auckland railway station.
The structural work on the shed had >een practically completed, and it was ntended to commence the roofing in a :ew days' time. The collapse came juite unexpectedly, the roof apparently >uckling in the centre and dragging lown heavy steel beams and uprights, rhe collapse is attributed to the strong vind which sprang up on Sunday evenng. It is believed that some of the lamaged framework can be straightened, rat other sections will have to be cut, ind a considerable amount of new naterial will be necessary. Representatives of the firm consider that reconstruction work of the frame will take >nly a few weeks.
