Mr. E. K. Plaisted, of Whangarei, writes to say that the report of tlie accident to hw blood horse Mountain Knijrht ia incorrect. Mountain Knijrht was not running in a paddock with other mares, but was in a paddock where he vas accustomed to rim, surrounded by a deep-made ditch and a wire fence. It had not been noticed that in an adjoining orchard, a gelding was grazing. Mountain Knight jumped over into the orchard and landing on uneven ground, fell. Before he could rise the other hora* kicked him with both hind feet, injaring hhn so seriously that he had to bo destroyed.
