The zone suffered and so did the car. There is an abundance of green vegetables at the auction marts just now, and lettuce has sold at from 6d to 2/6 a case. Sidney M Wynyard fined £20 this morning for keeping a common gaming house, and his cousin £10 for assisting him as clerk. Arthur James Connop remanded today till October 2-1 in connection with the Mount Roskill burglary and assault. Further charges pending. The English cricketers opened their Australia tour with a score of 306 for eix wickets against West Australia, Jardine getting a centurv. A Karangahape Road shopkeeper was before the Police Court this morning for having falsely placarded butter for sale.
