(Received 10 a.m.)
CHICAGO, October 18,
Cancer, which kills 125,000 Americans annually, was discussed by six leading authorities at the Medical Convention.
Dr. Mayo announced the appointment of a committee charged with the duty of forming a cancer clinic at Chicago, which would be one of a network, including Boston, New York and other American cities.
The leaders declared that heredity was a dominating factor in cancer. Dr. Mayo believes that some day, it may be soon, a positive cure may be discovered. In his garden at Rochester, Dr. Mayo has produced cancerous growths in strawberries. He has trained plants to resist the disease and has made
others subject to it.
He declared: "We find that 65 per cent of all humans die of diseases which have killed our ancestors. Some day there will l>e a scientific breeding of humans then cancer may wither away."
