On the application of Qdef Detective Hammond. the daige waa red wed to one of common theft, Goodenougb pleadfag guilty. "Hi* was a particularly aean theft," said Mr. Hammond. "Mrs. Goagh his small home cookery shop which is owned by accused. For some time past she has been cakes, chocolate, butter, ete., from her premises. It now * toils oat that Goodenough has been stealing her goods, for he has had a duplicate key of the shop all ..the time. On his own admission ho has visited the shop about 30 times during the past three months and- altogether about £10 worth of goods have disappeared. Sothing has been previously known against him. He is * single man. and fives by himself." Counsel said he had known Goodenough for sane time and was quite surprised to bear of Ids offence. ;t Mr. F. K. Hunt, SAL, imposed a fine of £10 and ordered Goodenough to pay
'£10 to Mrs. Goagh as restitution. The magistrate refused to order suppression of accused's name.
