BOSKILL'S TRANSPORT PROBLEM.
Resenting hotly a suggestion that she had opposed giving the people of Mount Roskill proper transport facilities, Miss Ellen Melville, official Reform, candidate ■for Roskill, stated at her meeting in the local hall last night that there had been a great deal of misunderstanding. She was willing to stand by all that she had said as a member o| the City Council, but she was not responsible for what Mr. J. A. C. Allum might be pleased to say. She thought the setting up of a transport board should solve the present difficulties. A vote of thanks and confidence was declared by the chairman, Mr. E. F. Jones, to be carried on the voices.
MR. J. S. DICKSON, M.P. " A meeting to further the itaterests of Mr. J. S. Dickson, M.P., chief Government Whip, was held last night, Mr. J. B. Paterson presiding over an attendance of about 60 electors of Parnell. Mr. Dickson gave a short address, for which he was thanked: Eulogistic reference was made to his past services to the country and the party, over a long term of years, and a Vote of confidence \vas carried. THE MANUKAU CONTEST. Supporters of Reform were addressed jby Mr. 8.. Dunn, the official candidate for Manukau, at a . meeting in th© Masonic Hall, Ellerslie, last night. Mr. J. W. Crosher presided. Messrs. G. Finn i and were elected to represent -the Ellerslio 'district on the Manukaii Reform executive. SIR JAMES GUNSON. An audience of about 200 was addressed by Sir James Gunson, Reform candidate for Auckland Suburbs, at Avondale South last night. Sir James promised to support Bible reading in schools. The meeting, over which Mr. H. Tiarks presided, carried a vote of thanks and confidence.. CONFIDENCE IN MR. ALLEN. A gortd hearing was accorded Mr. E. R. Allen, the United party's candidate for the Auckland Suburbs seat, when he addressed a meeting at Birkdale last evening, about 100 people being present. Mr. Albert Hadfield, Deputy-Mayor of Birkenhead, was in the dhair. A vote of confidence and thanks was passed, against an amendment of thanks only. t MR. W. j; JORDAN, M.P. In the absence abroad of Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., who is a member of the New Zealand delegation attending the Empire Parliamentary Association's conference in Canada, Labour supporters of Manukau are leaving nothing undone to retain the seat for the party. A meeting of friends of Mr. Jordan and the party is being held to-night in the Southern Cross Theatre, Ellerslie. 1
