The New Zealand golf championship tournament was continued to-day. The second, bogey handicap, for amateurs, was won _by Trewern (Otago) with Roberts (Wellington) runner-up. Rain fell this morning and it will probably make the course very heavy for the final of the professional championship and the semi-finals of the amateur championship to-morrow.

In the Wellington provincial ladies' golf semi-finals Miss Petrie. beat Mrs. Guy Williams one up, and *Miss Chrystall beat Miss Sim, 3 and 2.

MAUNGAKIEKIE CLUBS TOURNEY.

OPENING OP THE NEW COURSE. ' DRAW FOR SATURDAY. The Matingakifkie Golf Club's tournament commences on Saturday at the Titirangi links. This will be the first occasion on which the new layout of the course has been used. The president, Mr. G. Lawrence Taylor, will, formally declare the new course open before the tournament begins. This wilt .take place at 8.30 on Saturday morning from the first tee. Mr. H. W. Cooke, who has supervised the new layout, will drive off the first ball.

This tournament will be unique by reason ofr the fact that none of- those taking part, whether members of the Maimgakiekie Club or other clubs, will have played over the tournament course previously.

As this is a milestone in the club's history, the committee hopes that all competitors who can. possibly do ao will- be present for the opening function.
