VOLUNTEERS "ON STRIKE." OBJECTION TO AN APPOINTMENT. 1 (From Our Own Correspondent.) WAJLtti, Wednesday. The majority of the members of the Waihi Volunteer Fire Brigade are said to be "on strike." The Fire Board recently appointed one of the firemen. - deputy-superintendent. Stamp recently obtained empolyment at the mimicipal fjis workjrahd he iresigned his post aa superintendent of the brigade because the hours of work at the gas works would interfere with the effective carrying out of the position of superintendent. Hence the action pf the board in appointing Mr, S.~ Shergold (borough foreman) as deputy superintendent. At a meeting of- members of the brigade Mr. Stamp gained a majority of three votes over Mr. "Shergold for the office. y -
