THE DUNEDIN MEETING.

PINK NOTE DISAPPOINTING.

POOR SHOWING ON SATURDAY.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)

DUNEDIN, this day!

The most disappointing performance of Saturday's racing was Pink Note's poor showing. He won so easily over ten furlongs on -Thursday that his chance of winning over a mile looked good. Hoylake, on his form, can be cut out as a probable New Zealand Cup winner. The racing Count Cavour got should prove beneficial to his preparation for the New Zealand Cup. Queen Balboa is improving with every Ifm, and should be hard to beat in the Gore Cup. Overdrawn shows such inconsistent form that it is not surprising he has dropped out of the New Zealand Cup. Set Sail, who is always hard to beat, appeared anxious to increase the pace in the Ranfurly Handicap on Saturday, and had one of the easiest wins, with many to follow this season. Silver Paper, winner iof the Electric Handicap and the Dunedin Guineas, will be ridden by A. E. Didham in the New Zealand Derby. Pink Note, Booster, Francolin and Solrose are all leaving for the Wellington meeting.

TAKAPUNA JOCKEY CLUB.

The spring meeting of the Takapuna Jockey Club will be held on November 30 and December 1, and nominations for all handicap events and final payment for the Takapuna Plate close with the secretary, Mr. F. D. McVay, at 5 p.m. PQ Jriday, November 2.
