HALF-YEAR'S EXPENDITURE.

The half-yearly statement of ieceipts and expenditure ended on September 30 was submitted by the Town Clerk (Mr. H. A. Yockney) to the Onehunga Borough Council last night. The council passed a unanimous vote congratulating Mr. Yockney and his office staff upon getting the statement finished on the last day in the half-year and ready for submitting to the council the day after. It will be seen that the period wound up with a credit balance of £577. The principal items of expenditure were as follow: —Streets, £3028; waterworks, £1885: interest and sinking fund, £10,532: Jellicoe Park and reserves, £680; cemeteries, £906; office salaries, £578; hospital levy, £1743; street lighting, £1130; repairs to Mangere Bridge, £327; motor truck, £489; five per cent rebate on rates, £712. Receipts:—General current rates, £14,383; arrears, £1227; water meter rates, £3018; cemetery, £1430; Government subsidy on rates, £450; vehicle licenses, £940; penalty on rates, £140; refuse fees, £519; petrol tax, £466; One Tree Hill Road Board refund, £750; total receipts for the half-year, £26,153; expenditure for the same period, £25,576; credit balance, £577.
