HIDE AND SKIN AUCTIONS.
AN EABIER MARKET. • At the auction sale of hides and sheepskins this afternoon in the Chamber of Commerce, Swanson Street, the demand was not bo good, the tendency being towards easier price. Dry Bheep were particularly weak, and many lots of hides were passed in. Prices offered were as follow:— Sheepskins.—Dry: halfbred, to 14* d per lb; fine crossbred, 10% d to 12% d; half to three-quarter wool, 10d to lUid; short to half wool, B%d to 9%d. Salted: best, 11/ to 12/ each; good, 10/ to 10/6; medium, 8/6 to 9/6; poor and damaged, 2/6 to 3/6. Hides.—Extra heavy ox, ll%d per lb; heavy, 10% d; medium, 10% d; light, heavy cow, lOd; medium,. lOd; yearlings, 10d to lid; best calf, 18% d; and light calf, 17% d. Tallow.—Best mixed, 28/6 to 30/ per cwt; medium, 25/6 to 86/6; and poor, 23/6 to 24/6.
