CLOSE TO THE LIGHTNING.
RADIO BURNED OUT.
In the course of his speech from the radio station Kingsford Smith said: "We are very happy to be across. We came through "a very bad time last night. Old Father Tasman for a period gave us as> bad a time as any we have had. The lightning was so close as to burn out part of our radio equipment. We are S leased that our radio operator is a Tew Zealander, as that makes the combination of the two countries, Australia and New Zealand, n/>r complete."
