Davies and young child, were absent at the time of the outbreak. Ine strong south-westerly wind at the tIT ,f o JV tri u U -??. to the ra P id tion of the building, and the task of the lire brigade was rendered difficult. In order that the firemen should not be exposed to the danger of electrocution whilst working on the roof near the high-tension electric wires in Queen Street, the Power Board officials cut off the current from the sectio., in which the fire was located until the outbreak was suppressed. The property is owned by Mr. J. H. Davies. The building was insured for £700 and the furniture for £300, both policies being held by the North British office.
