NOTES FROM WELLINGTON.
PREPARATIONS FOR WANGANUI. WELLING TON, this day. H. Cutts arrived from Riecarton yesterday, en route to Wanganui, with Fau Feather, Quarterdeck, and Swoopalong. After inspecting the track at Marton during the week, F. Tilley scratched Cashier, High Falutin. and Metellus for their engagements- They are all three-year-olds, and it was considered too severe a task for them in the heavy ground so early in the eason. As a matter of fact, the track was better than it was anticipated, though it is still heavy. The Fordell stable is well represented at Wanganui and Avondale. At Avondale they are all in on the second day, as it is considered that one race will be sufficient at this period, but they will probably remain for the events at the Pakuranga Hunt meeting, to be held a few days later. The steeplechaser Matu. who went sore prior to the Grand National last month, has been sent up to his owner's place for a spell. Black Mint will leave Trentham for Wanganui and Avondale on Monday. He hurt a hock a few days ago, but is now all right again. J. McLaughlin will leave for Wanganui on Monday with Decoy Bird, Duellona, and the Paper Money—Peronilla colt. The latter will probably go on to Avondale ta run in the Stakes. Push and Sapient, two of Mr. V. Riddiford's two-year-olds engaged in the Debutante Stakes at Wanganui. are at present unlikely to make the trip.
