POWER BOARD MEETING. AX INCREASING LOAD. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, this day. There w-as a full attendance of members at the Franklin Electric Power Board's meeting yesterday afternoon, when the chairman, Mr. John Dean, presided. The chairman, engineer, secretary and Mr. G. Arrowsmith were appointed to confer with the Mayor of Pukekohe, Mr. J. Routley, and the chairman of the Pukekohe Borough Council's Lighting Committee, Mr. G. H. Armstrong, respecting an agreement between the two local bodies regarding the supply of electricity to the borough for lighting and water pumping purposes. Mr. G. T. Parvin pointed out that at present the power board was losing about £70 per annum in revenue over the borough services, while the parties could not agree on certain points. The question of repairing damage done at the Tuakau Cemetery during the erection of a tower to carry the main transmission line over the Waikato River was left to the engineer. The engineer was also asked to investigate the possibilities of reticulating Geraghtys. Road, Tuakau. Three settlers in this locality applied for a supply of electricity. It was reported that the reticulation of the main group in Onewhero had been completed and the area would be livened in a fortnight's time. The engineer, in his report, stated that a further two and a half miles of the Onewhero-Te Kohanga line had been surveyed. while the survey of the Ararimu line (near Ramarama) was being carried out. New lines had been livened at Titi, Tramway Road, Bothwell Park Road, Great South Road, Waiuku-Drury Road, Runciinan, Aka, Aka and Mercer. Messrs. J. Clotty and party had completed pole erecting at Onewhero aud Browns Road, Tuakau. A canvass of Hunters' Road, I'atuniahoc, had resulted in a satisfactory load being obtained and a canvass of Kariotahi district had proved satisfactory. The total connected load was 457'J k.w., a£ compared with 4457 k.w. for the previous month. There were 2583 connected consumers, as against 2543 for the previous month. The interruption to the supply of electric current troui Horahora was discussed, when reference was made to the erratic voltage at certain periods of the day, particularly towards evening. It was suggested that street lignts be switched ofi in the early part ot the evening while the milking load was on, to enable farmers to complete milking without interruption. the engineer, Air. 1.
