ST. JOHN AMBULANCE. PICTURE OF THE BRIGADE S WORK. Mr. Rudall Hayward, the Xew Zealaiid film producer, will make a short picture of the work done in this city by the St. John Ambulance Brigade, as an addition to a film based on the work of the brigade and made in England. The English picture, which was shown privately in Auckland yesterday, shows incidents in the work of the brigade, patrols oil duty, ambulances rushing to calls, and scenes which demonstrate the organisation and Byßteui of the brigade. Parades and inspections are also seen. Work of Mr. Hayward's picture will start in about a month, and one of the biggest scenes will be that of a public parade of the Auckland contingent, when an inspection will be made. The complete picture will be shown throughout New Zealad in Fuller-Hayward theatres.
Tha>t the existence of the brigade is justified there can be no doubt, as a glance at figures for a recent Saturday afternoon (July 21) will show. On that day 315 members of the brigade were on duty at 138 sports grounds throughout the Dominion, and the number of cases treated was 693. On the corresponding Saturday of last year 250 members were bit duty, and 411 cases were treated. In Auckland alone on July 21 of this year 67 members were on duty, and they dealt with 233 casualty cases. Only yesterday, three of the four ambulances of the Auckland contingent were at the gates of the Auckland Hospital at the one time. Meanwhile the fourth had to be kept on duty in case of another urgent call.
