DARGAVILLE RACING CLUB.
MEETING AT AVONDALE. The annual meeting of the Dargaville Racing Club will be held at the Avondale course on Thursday and Saturday, November 1 and 3, and an excellent programme has been issued for the fixture. In all 3000sovs will be distributed in stakes, the sum of 152550vs being alloted to the first day and 147550vs to the sec- ■ ond. The principal event on the first day is | the Dargaville Cup of 400sovs, one mile I and a-quarter, while next in importance [ is the Avoca Handicap of 225sovs, six I furlongs. The other events are: Maiden i Plate of 125sovs (weight Bst), six furi longs; Toka Toka Handicap (hack conj ditions) of loOsovs, six furlongs; Kaihu I Handicap Hurdles (hack conditions) of j 175sovs, one mile and a-half; Nursery i Handicap (for two-year-olds) of laOsovs, five furlongs; Awakino Handicap (hack conditions) of 150sovs, one mile; and Hobson Handicap of 120sovs, one mile. On the second day the stakes are the same, with the exception of the chief event, the President's Handicap, which is of 350sovs (50sovs less than the Cup), the distance being one mile. The Ruawai Handicap, six furlongs, is endowed with 225sovs, while the remaining items are; Hore Hore Handicap of 125sovs, for horses that have never won a flat race of the value of 50sovs at time of starting, six furlongs; Omana Handicap (hack conditions of 150sovs, six furlongs; Kirikopuni Hurdles (hack conditions) of 175sovs, one mile and a-half; Juvenile Handicap (for two-year-olds) of 150sovs, five furlongs; Hoanga Handicap (hack conditions) of 150sovs, one mile; Donald Finlayson Memorial Handicap of loOsovs, one mile. Nominations close with the race secretary, Mr. A. J. Farquhar, at the Avondale Jockey Club's office, on Friday, October 19, at 5 p.m.
