BEFORE COURT TO-DAY.

SEVERAL SPEEDSTERS FIXED.

A number of motorists who had exceeded the speed allowed by the citv bvlaws and had been caught by the police paid the penalty for "stepping on the gas" when they came before Mr. W. R. McKean. S.M., at the Policc Court this morning. On charges of speeding, -lobn Paine and X. W. Bonnan were each fined £2 and costs, while L. A. Phillips. Ororge Findley, ( E. Cat land were fined £1 10/. plug costs, and K. P.. Y. Kowe. D. Shipherd. H. I>. Massey and H. Y. Hampton got off with lines of £1 and costs. A. Atkinson, who failed to give a signal before turning, was fined £1 10/ and costs, while Essie Stokes, for not notifying change of ownership of a car | was lined £1 and costs. A line of £1 and jcosts was imposed on .John E. Lester for j having the wrong number plates affixed on hi> car.
